Genesis Chapter 20

Genesis Chapter 20

King James Version, 1769

King James Version, 1769 with the Names of GOD

20:1

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar.

20:2

And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

20:3

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.

But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.

20:4

But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Adonay, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?

20:5

Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this.

20:6

And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

And Elohiym said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her.

20:7

Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.

20:8

Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.

Therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ears: and the men were sore afraid.

20:9

Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said unto him, What hast thou done unto us? and what have I offended thee, that thou hast brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? thou hast done deeds unto me that ought not to be done.

20:10

And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?

And Abimelech said unto Abraham, What sawest thou, that thou hast done this thing?

20:11

And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of God is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

And Abraham said, Because I thought, Surely the fear of Elohiym is not in this place; and they will slay me for my wife’s sake.

20:12

And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

And yet indeed she is my sister; she is the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

20:13

And it came to pass, when God caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

And it came to pass, when Elohiym caused me to wander from my father’s house, that I said unto her, This is thy kindness which thou shalt shew unto me; at every place whither we shall come, say of me, He is my brother.

20:14

And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.

And Abimelech took sheep, and oxen, and menservants, and womenservants, and gave them unto Abraham, and restored him Sarah his wife.

20:15

And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.

And Abimelech said, Behold, my land is before thee: dwell where it pleaseth thee.

20:16

And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.

And unto Sarah he said, Behold, I have given thy brother a thousand pieces of silver: behold, he is to thee a covering of the eyes, unto all that are with thee, and with all other: thus she was reproved.

20:17

So Abraham prayed unto God: and God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

So Abraham prayed unto Elohiym: and Elohiym healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his maidservants; and they bare children.

20:18

For the LORD had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

For Yehovah had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah Abraham’s wife.

And he said, Behold now, my lords, turn in, I pray you, into your servant’s house, and tarry all night, and wash your feet, and ye shall rise up early, and go on your ways. And they said, Nay; but we will abide in the street all night.

19:5

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them.

Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

Behold now, I have two daughters which have not known man; let me, I pray you, bring them out unto you, and do ye to them as is good in your eyes: only unto these men do nothing; for therefore came they under the shadow of my roof.

19:9

And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

And they said, Stand back. And they said again, This one fellow came in to sojourn, and he will needs be a judge: now will we deal worse with thee, than with them. And they pressed sore upon the man, even Lot, and came near to break the door.

19:10

But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door.

19:11

And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door.

19:12

And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place:

19:13

For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.

For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of Yehovah; and Yehovah hath sent us to destroy it.

19:14

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for the LORD will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

And Lot went out, and spake unto his sons in law, which married his daughters, and said, Up, get you out of this place; for Yehovah will destroy this city. But he seemed as one that mocked unto his sons in law.

19:15

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city.

19:16

And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; Yehovah being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city.

19:18

And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord:

And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Adonay:

19:19

Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die:

19:20

Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live.

19:21

And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken.

19:22

Haste thee, escape thither; for I cannot do any thing till thou be come thither. Therefore the name of the city was called Zoar.

The sun was risen upon the earth when Lot entered into Zoar.

19:24

Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven;

And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.

19:29

And it came to pass, when God destroyed the cities of the plain, that God remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

And it came to pass, when Elohiym destroyed the cities of the plain, that Elohiym remembered Abraham, and sent Lot out of the midst of the overthrow, when he overthrew the cities in the which Lot dwelt.

18:4

Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

Let a little water, I pray you, be fetched, and wash your feet, and rest yourselves under the tree:

18:5

And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

And I will fetch a morsel of bread, and comfort ye your hearts; after that ye shall pass on: for therefore are ye come to your servant. And they said, So do, as thou hast said.

18:14

Is any thing too hard for the LORD? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Is any thing too hard for Yehovah? At the time appointed I will return unto thee, according to the time of life, and Sarah shall have a son.

Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?

And Yehovah said, If I find in Sodom fifty righteous within the city, then I will spare all the place for their sakes.

18:27

And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord, which am but dust and ashes:

And Abraham answered and said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto Adonay, which am but dust and ashes:

18:28

Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

Peradventure there shall lack five of the fifty righteous: wilt thou destroy all the city for lack of five? And he said, If I find there forty and five, I will not destroy it.

18:31

And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto the Lord: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.

And he said, Behold now, I have taken upon me to speak unto Adonay: Peradventure there shall be twenty found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for twenty’s sake.

18:32

And he said, Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.

And he said, Oh let not Adonay be angry, and I will speak yet but this once: Peradventure ten shall be found there. And he said, I will not destroy it for ten’s sake.

18:33

And the LORD went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

And Yehovah went his way, as soon as he had left communing with Abraham: and Abraham returned unto his place.

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

And he said unto Abram, Know of a surety that thy seed shall be a stranger in a land that is not theirs, and shall serve them; and they shall afflict them four hundred years;

15:14

And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

And also that nation, whom they shall serve, will I judge: and afterward shall they come out with great substance.

15:15

And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

And thou shalt go to thy fathers in peace; thou shalt be buried in a good old age.

15:16

But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

But in the fourth generation they shall come hither again: for the iniquity of the Amorites is not yet full.

15:17

And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

And it came to pass, that, when the sun went down, and it was dark, behold a smoking furnace, and a burning lamp that passed between those pieces.

15:18

In the same day the LORD made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

In the same day Yehovah made a covenant with Abram, saying, Unto thy seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt unto the great river, the river Euphrates:

15:19

The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

The Kenites, and the Kenizzites, and the Kadmonites,

15:20

And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

And the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Rephaims,

15:21

And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

And the Amorites, and the Canaanites, and the Girgashites, and the Jebusites.

Seek First The Kingdom Of GOD: Two Masters – The Freedom Of GOD’s Slaves

Mat 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

Brother Jim’s Understanding:

1) Nobody, not one single man or one single woman, has ability to bind himself or be bound as a servant or slave to two supreme masters or authorities: for either you will greatly dislike, detest, and abhor the one and you will love and enjoy serving the other; or else you will adhere to the one and disregard with contempt the other. You absolutely cannot (are not able to) serve and be led by GOD, and serve and be led by a covetous and insatiable greedy lust for wealth and its power at the same time.

2) It is not possible for any man or any woman, not even one man or woman, to serve or be a servant to two masters: for either you will greatly desire to ignore the one while greatly desiring to serve the other; or you will strive to closely stick to the one while striving to escape the other. It is absolutely impossible to be a committed servant and worshiper of GOD and to also serve with commitment, worship, and idolize wealth and its power.

With the discussion of being a servant/slave of GOD, we must understand that there is great freedom for the slaves of the Kingdom of GOD. In the Kingdom of GOD the difference between a son/daughter and a slave is a matter of maturity.

It is a sad yet often ignored fact that we are born into a fallen world. A world created in splendor and beauty, yet utterly corrupted by the sin of man and subjugation to Satan, currently the god of this world. With Satan as the god of this world, and man’s fallen state, we are born into this world a slave to sin. We are ruled by sin from the moment of our conception, yet we long for relationship with our Creator.

We struggle against things we know are wrong, yet we so consistently lose that struggle. How often do we seem helpless against repeatedly doing something wrong? How often do we struggle against vices we desire to be free of? Why is it we cannot seem to get free? It is because we are a slave of sin.

Joh 8:34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin.

Once again we see the word translated as ‘servant’ is the Greek word ‘duolos’ which means ‘a slave’.

Lest we think more highly of ourselves than we ought, we need to remember, ALL of us have sinned; this includes me, and this includes you.

Rom 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

All of us have sinned, and therefore all of us have been slaves of sin. As slaves of sin, we have been the property of sin. But there is good news, someone has come to set us free from sin. Someone has bought us from sin, and purchased us as His own.

1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.

1Co 7:23 Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.

We have been bought with a price, purchased with the very Blood of the LORD Jesus Christ. We now belong to GOD. When we choose to accept the price paid for us, and choose of our own free will to make the LORD Jesus Christ our LORD, our Master, then He acts as our Saviour, saving us from sin and the wages of sin. It is not that we are suddenly made perfect, but we have changed our allegiance, we have received a different LORD, a different Master, a different Ruler. We choose to no longer serve the god of this world, but instead we choose to serve Almighty GOD The Creator of this world.

This is a simple, yet profound spiritual and eternal transaction. All that is required is that we believe in our hearts that GOD raised the LORD Jesus Christ from the dead, and confess with our mouths the LORD Jesus Christ. Once having done so, we must do so every day, denying our ‘self’, taking up our cross, and following the LORD Jesus Christ.

Rom 10:8-13 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. 12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. 13 For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Luk 9:23-24 And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. 24 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

As we receive the LORDship of Jesus Christ we choose to be subject to the the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus, and are thus freed from the law of sin and death. From this point on, every decision we make, every action we perform or do not perform, every word we speak or do not speak, declares our allegiance, submission, and obedience to either the Law of Sin and Death, or the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus. Remember, to receive the LORD Jesus Christ is to make Him LORD of our life, of our very existence; to submit in all things to His Holy WORD. As we learn to do so more consistently, we will experience the freedom of the Law of the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus more consistently.

Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

We have been born into this world, but when we are born again we are born again into the Kingdom of GOD as His children, and are now joint heirs with the LORD Jesus Christ.

Rom 8:15-17 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God: 17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Now, lest we get ahead of ourselves, we must understand that being a child of GOD requires growing up spiritually and maturing. We start, as in the natural, as spiritual infants and are to grow into being children, then to grow up and mature into full-fledged sons and daughters of Almighty GOD walking in the fullness of His Love and His Glory towards all, as our LORD Jesus Christ showed us. In this, we must choose to mature. We are not suddenly sons and daughters of GOD entrusted with the entire Kingdom, but we grow and mature into becoming sons and daughters of GOD who can be trusted with His Holy Kingdom and the Power of His Holy WORD.

Joh 1:12-13 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

When we believe, we are given the power to become mature sons and daughters of GOD, but until then, we are treated and trained just as the house servants are, just as the slaves are. We must learn to put away childish things and grow into the full stature of our LORD Jesus Christ and who we are in Him.

Gal 4:1-7 Now I say, That the heir, as long as he is a child, differeth nothing from a servant, though he be lord of all; 2 But is under tutors and governors until the time appointed of the father. 3 Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world: 4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons. 6 And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. 7 Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

As children born of this world, we were trained up by this world in bondage to the ways and principles of this world, enslaved to the world’s way of thinking and doing things; ultimately enslaved by the god of this world and his way of thinking and doing things. As born again children, we must learn to bind ourselves to GOD’s WORD, to GOD’s Way of thinking and doing things, to His Kingdom and His Righteousness. In doing so we will come to understand our Father’s business, and grow into mature sons and daughters of Almighty GOD so that we may be trusted with our Father’s business, our Father’s work, the work of GOD.

1Co 13:11 When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things.

Eph 4:13-15 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: 14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; 15 But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

When we are spiritual children we speak as children, understand as children, and think as children. However, we are not to remain immature little children forever. We are to grow and mature, being trained under teachers, managers, and overseers of the Kingdom of GOD until the time appointed by our Father; having put away the childish things and embraced the work and ways of our Father, the work and ways of GOD. What is the work of GOD?

Luk 2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?

Joh 6:28-29 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God? 29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.

The work of GOD is for us to believe upon the LORD Jesus Christ whom the Father sent because He so loves us. If we truly believe upon the LORD Jesus Christ we will do what LORD Jesus commanded us to do: we will daily, constantly, deny ourself, take up our cross, and follow Him. What was the example LORD Jesus set for us?

Joh 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

Joh 8:28-29 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. 29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him.

The LORD Jesus Christ did nothing of Himself as He walked this earth in a perfect, sinless life. HE IS our example. The LORD Jesus Christ kept His eyes upon Father and did only what He saw Father do. The LORD Jesus Christ kept His ears tuned to Father and spoke only those things He heard Father teach. The LORD Jesus Christ ALWAYS did those things that please Father.

Dear reader, do you see where the power of our LORD Jesus Christ came from? The LORD Jesus Christ continuously subjected Himself to Father. The LORD Jesus Christ lived His Life on this earth a continuously subjected servant, a continually submitted slave to Father. Because of this our LORD Jesus Christ walked in more power and more freedom than any man or woman who has ever walked this earth.

We desire to be free. Free from sin and free from the wages of sin. Are we willing to do that which our LORD Jesus Christ instructs us to do? Do we actually believe our LORD Jesus Christ? Are we willing to follow His WORD? If so, if we truly believe, then we will continue in His WORD and thus be His disciples, and continuing in His WORD as His fully committed disciples (students) we will absolutely know the truth, and the truth that we absolutely know shall make us free.

Joh 8:23-38 And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. 24 I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. 25 Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning. 26 I have many things to say and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of him. 27 They understood not that he spake to them of the Father. 28 Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things. 29 And he that sent me is with me: the Father hath not left me alone; for I do always those things that please him. 30 As he spake these words, many believed on him. 31 Then said Jesus to those Jews which believed on him, If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; 32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. 33 They answered him, We be Abraham’s seed, and were never in bondage to any man: how sayest thou, Ye shall be made free? 34 Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. 35 And the servant abideth not in the house for ever: but the Son abideth ever. 36 If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. 37 I know that ye are Abraham’s seed; but ye seek to kill me, because my word hath no place in you. 38 I speak that which I have seen with my Father: and ye do that which ye have seen with your father.

Rom 6:22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants (enslaved) to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. (parenthesis added for definition)
