A Higher Purpose For Memorizing And Reciting The Holy WORD Of GOD

There are many very good reasons taught for memorizing The Holy WORD Of GOD.

Among them are:

  • Scripture to stand on in prayer
  • Building faith
  • Dealing with certain problems faced in life
  • Resisting temptation
  • Encouragement
  • The accomplishment of memorizing Holy Scripture

However, I believe there is a higher purpose for memorizing and reciting The Holy WORD Of GOD. This higher purpose I seem to be discovering for myself for the first time is two-fold: Intimate relationship with GOD and His Holy WORD, and increasing the Kingdom Of GOD within me.

Let’s be clear here, I am not talking about memorizing as much Holy Scripture as you can, as fast as you can; not at all. I am talking about a daily increase in GOD’s WORD, however large or small is comfortable for you, individually.

Please, let me explain.

As our LORD Jesus Christ taught us, the Kingdom Of GOD is like the tiny mustard seed though very small when first planted, it can grow to become a large tree under which the fowls of the air may rest and find shelter from the heat. In our lives, this tree is the Kingdom of GOD growing large and strong in our lives giving shelter not only to us but also to those around us in need of it.

LORD Jesus also likens the WORD Of GOD to seed in that when we begin to faithfully plant the WORD Of GOD into the good soil of our heart on a daily basis, attend to it so that it is watered, fertilized, and protected from weeds and pests, it will grow into a large and regular harvest. The more we plant, the greater the harvest. The more regularly we plant, the more regular the harvest.

I am finding that each time I purposefully recite the Holy Scripture I have memorized it brings me an increase in peace and an increase of my awareness of the Presence Of GOD. It also brings an increase in my desire to more intimately know GOD; it brings a hunger and a thirst for His Kingdom and His Righteousness.

Starting with memorization, simply pick a passage of Holy Scripture that you have a particular fondness for, or one that you believe will help lead you closer to our Heavenly Father. Pick a passage, and simply start with the first verse, or even just the first phrase in the first verse. Memorize it by reciting it aloud, repeatedly. As you start to better remember the phrase, begin to speak it with meaning and intent. Focus on the words and their meaning as you speak them. Allow the words to be a ‘mini-sermon’ to your heart and mind. Spend at least a day with just the phrase or verse you started with, letting it grow in meaning and intensity each time you recite it. If it takes only one day, fine; if it takes several days, that is just as well. The goal is to get the WORD firmly planted and established in your heart, and to renew your mind with it; not to see how fast you can accumulate Scripture verses. We are not attempting to force growth, we are encouraging growth by tending to the garden. This can be done on coffee breaks or lunch time at work, when driving in the car, when doing menial tasks or chores, etc.

As time passes, you will find that each passage you recite will become its own encouragement, teaching, and strengthening to you. It addition, you will find yourself arranging the passages you are reciting in various ways that will together become a sermon to your heart and mind encouraging you in your relationship with your Heavenly Father. There are times when, for me, it feels as though I am drawing from a deep well within myself as I recite the WORD, and my sense of closeness to our Holy Father, LORD Jesus, and Holy Spirit strengthens, increases, and starts to overwhelm.

The Holy Scriptures I am currently working with are:

1Co 13:4-8a Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, 5 Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. 8a Charity never faileth:

Psa 1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.

Psa 23:1-6 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. 3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. 5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

I am now adding:

Php 4:4-8 Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice. 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is at hand. 6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

As you can see, I personally use the King James Version, 1769. I do so because it is a word-for-word translation of Scripture, rather than a thought-for-thought interpretation of Scripture. My studies are based upon the translation, so when I meditate upon the WORD the various meanings pour forth and as I recite the WORD, the meanings are renewed in strength, purpose, and impact. This is what works for me. Please, seek GOD concerning which translation or interpretation of Scripture would work best for you. The purpose is to strengthen yourself in the WORD Of GOD and grow closer to your Heavenly Father.

You Shall Reign In Life By Christ Jesus

Dear Precious Child Of GOD, how is it the enemy of your soul keeps you beat down, depressed, disillusioned, and hopeless? I believe it is because you (and many of us) do not yet understand who we are in our LORD Jesus Christ; nor do we understand what GOD Our Father has blessed us with in and through our LORD Jesus Christ.

Our Father did not create us to grovel before Him, continually beat down by the world and the circumstances that we seem to endlessly live in. Being born again by grace through faith in our LORD Jesus Christ makes you His Dear Precious Child. Beloved Children of a Perfect and Loving Father do not grovel, they run fully free into the arms of their Father whenever they are in need, whenever they are troubled, and whenever they want love or desire to give love. And not only this, but mature children of a king are princes and princesses of royalty. How much more the royal children of Almighty GOD are the Dear Precious Children of Almighty GOD, THE KING OF ALL THAT IS, born again as Royal Princes and Royal Princesses of Almighty GOD, our Father, over all creation, living as honorable, royal, and holy reminders of The King Whose Children They Are?

Rev 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

Rev 5:10 And hast made us unto our God kings and priests: and we shall reign on the earth.

Almighty GOD our Father originally created us to have dominion over all the earth and everything that lives and moves upon it.

Gen 1:26-28 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.

This is the original mandate of Almighty GOD, spoken by Almighty GOD to Adam and Eve as a Blessing to them and their soon coming progeny. We are created to rule and reign in righteousness on this earth as holy reminders and examples of GOD WHO IS LOVE.

The ability to live this mandate was once lost, but to whosoever will believe, they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ. The original mandate of Almighty GOD, and the ability to live it has been restored to us in Christ Jesus our LORD. Rejoice mightily and give loud praises to GOD!

Rom 5:17 For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.

All Scripture is given in the King James Version, 1769. Bold emphasis is added.

You Have Received The Atonement Through Our LORD Jesus Christ

Dear Precious Child Of GOD, I encourage you to take joy in our LORD Jesus Christ, for it is by our LORD Jesus Christ that we—that you—have now received the atonement. Right now, in the present, you have the atonement through our LORD Jesus Christ. You were given that atonement when you were born again; when you believed in you heart that GOD raised LORD Jesus from the dead and confessed with your mouth the LORD Jesus Christ is LORD of your life.

Do you struggle, though you have made heartfelt confession of your sin, with thoughts and feelings of sinfulness and unworthiness? Satan, the enemy of your soul, would have you focused upon sinfulness and unworthiness, feeling as though you could never be who your Heavenly Father created you to be, but Satan is a liar. You have received the atonement through our LORD Jesus Christ, and you must focus your heart and your mind upon this truth.

The ‘atonement’ is ‘an exchange, a restoration to (Divine) favor’. Dear Child Of GOD, that sinfulness Satan continually attempts to beat you down with was exchanged for Righteousness in Christ Jesus your LORD. Your LORD Jesus Christ not only took your sin, but He became sin for you so that in His Death you would die to the world, and in His Resurrection you would receive His New Life. In receiving the LORD Jesus Christ as your LORD, you have (by the grace of GOD) received the exchange of His Righteousness for your sinfulness and the exchange of the death that is the product of that sinfulness for His LIFE; for our LORD Jesus Christ IS The Way, The Truth, and The Life. In Christ Jesus our LORD, you are now restored to the first estate, to the way Almighty GOD originally created you to be before the fall of Adam. You have been restored to the original state of creation as though sin had never been committed. You are new in Christ Jesus, clean, holy, and righteous in Him.

Rom 5:11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.

Scripture is given in the King James Version, 1769.

Being Reconciled to GOD, You Shall Be Saved By The Life Of LORD Jesus

Dear Precious Child Of GOD, when we were enemies of GOD we were reconciled by the death of His Son, our LORD Jesus Christ; and now much more, abundantly more, being that we are reconciled–being that you are reconciled–to GOD, we (you) shall be saved by the Life of our LORD Jesus Christ.

Precious Child Of GOD, to be saved does not only mean from eternal damnation in hell, being saved (sozo) means: to save, to deliver or protect.

This “being saved” is not only spiritually in eternity, but is spirit, soul, and body; right here, right now. “Being saved” is also translated (also means): heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole.

Almighty GOD, our Loving Heavenly Father, did not stop at reconciling us to Himself; He continued His work of salvation in us to include being delivered or protected from all evil.

Questions: Do we appropriate this work of our Loving Father? Do we receive this blessing from Him? Did not LORD Jesus instruct us to pray “. . . Thy Kingdom come, Thy Will be done on earth as it is done in Heaven…”? Do we not pray “. . . Deliver us from evil…”? Do we not believe LORD Jesus meant it? Do we not believe that GOD IS and that GOD IS a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him? That when we ask we shall receive that our joy may be full, and that when we seek we shall find?

Dear Precious Child Of GOD, what is it you need to be saved from today? What is it that you need to be delivered from or protected from today? Since your Loving Father is for you, who can successfully be against you? Your Loving Heavenly Father desires that you bring your needs to Him in faith, believing that you shall be saved by the Life of your LORD Jesus Christ. What do you need to be healed of? What situation do you need to be preserved through? In what do you need to do well to glorify His Holy Kingdom? What part of you and in what way do you need to be made whole–spirit, soul, and body?

Take these to your Loving Heavenly Father and ask Him for revelation of the salvation (deliverance, protection, healing, preservation, etc.) that He has ready for you whenever you ask in faith, believing. Receive the revelation and grace (unmerited favor and empowerment to be what GOD created you to be) of your Holy Father. GOD’s abundant LOVE does not provide only a future salvation, but provides continual salvation to “whosoever will believe”.

Dear Precious Child Of GOD, will you believe? Will you ask and receive the great salvation of Almighty GOD by the Life of His Son your LORD Jesus Christ? If so, then say so now! Go to your Heavenly Father in heartfelt prayer, in your own words, tell Him what you need and ask Him for His thoughts on the subject. Ask Him for His Revelation of His LOVE for you.

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

All Scripture is given in the King James Version, 1769.

You Are Reconciled To GOD

Dear Precious Child Of GOD, do you still struggle with feeling separated from Almighty GOD, your Loving and Heavenly Father? Please understand something, when you were still an enemy of GOD enslaved to sin; even willingly and enjoyable bound to sin and the evil it produces, GOD LOVED YOU!

GOD LOVED you so much that even when you were an enemy to GOD, even when you held a hate-filled attitude toward Him, even when you were actively hostile toward Him, His LOVE for you was perfect. The moment you believed in your heart that GOD raised LORD Jesus from the dead and confessed with your mouth the LORD Jesus Christ, you were reconciled to GOD by the death of His Son, our LORD Jesus Christ.

By the death of our LORD Jesus Christ you are now called into union and friendship with GOD, whose loving affections you had been alienated from by your previous servitude to sin. Almighty GOD, your Loving and Heavenly Father has called you back to Himself to restore the friendship with you that He had with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden before they ever sinned; walking in intimate friendship in the cool of the day, every day, with their—with your—Loving Creator. You are no more to be estranged from your Father in heaven. You are no more to be at variance with His Holy Will. You are now called to be His friend, His Beloved Child.

Almighty GOD, your Loving and Heavenly Father provided this while you were still living as an enemy to Him. His LOVE for you is that deep, that perfect. Dear Precious Child Of GOD, do you still struggle with knowing the LOVE that GOD IS? Then pray from your heart according to Ephesians 3:14-19:

Eph 3:14-19 For this cause I bow my knees unto the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15 Of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named, 16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

Holy Father GOD, I bow my knees to you, the Father of my LORD Jesus Christ of whom the whole family in heaven and earth is name. Holy Father, grant to me, according to the riches of Your Holy Glory, to be strengthened with might by Your Holy Spirit in my inner man, that Christ Jesus may dwell in my heart by faith, and that I may be rooted and grounded in Your Holy LOVE. May I be able to comprehend what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height of Your Holy Love, and the Love of Christ Jesus my LORD; the LOVE which passes all knowledge, that I may be filled with all your Holy Fullness. In LORD Jesus’ Holy and Mighty Name I pray. Amen.

Rom 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life.

All Scripture is given in the King James Version, 1769.
