GOD IS LOVE

GOD IS LOVE1. Most of us have heard this before, yet, I dare say, we do not really understand what ‘GOD IS LOVE’ means. We understand the concept to some small degree, but we do not have a full understanding nor do we have revelation of just exactly what ‘GOD IS LOVE’ means and how that applies to our lives, and how we ought live. It is further my belief that until we begin to understand GOD as the LOVE HE IS, we cannot truly begin to understand the WORD of GOD; and are seeing Holy Scripture through much less light than we should.

GOD loves you. Truly, GOD does love you. Many have heard Holy Scripture quoted, being told, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.2

However, too many have not also been told, “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.3

Even those who have been told about the above Holy Scriptures have usually been told in the context of someone in the process of persuading them to believe on the LORD Jesus Christ in order to convert them to faith in the LORD Jesus Christ.

It is my contention that most of the people of the world and a large majority of confessing believers in our LORD Jesus Christ do not have revelation or understanding of the LOVE that Almighty GOD our Creator and heavenly Father IS.

This section is aimed at helping to increase the understanding of the LOVE that GOD IS.

One of the ways of helping to increase understanding will be to look at a Scripture and insert the word ‘LOVE’ in places where the word (name) ‘God’, or at times a reference to God, is used. This is not done lightly or as an attempt to change Holy Scripture, but to help increase understanding, and to hopefully bring about revelation of the LOVE that GOD IS.

Here is an example:

King James Version LOVE Version
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with Love, and the Word was Love.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. The same was in the beginning with Love.
John 1:3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made All things were made by Love; and without Love was not any thing made that was made
John 1:4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. In Love was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
John 1:6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. There was a man sent from Love, whose name was John.
John 1:7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through Love might believe.
John 1:8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
John 1:9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. Love was in the world, and the world was made by Love, and the world knew Love not.
John 1:11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. Love came unto his own, and his own received him not.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: But as many as received Love, to them gave he power to become the sons of Love, even to them that believe on Love’s name:
John 1:13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of Love.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld Love’s glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

It is very important that we begin to understand, and to see, GOD for the LOVE that HE IS. It is my hope that prayerful and thoughtful meditation upon the above, and posts of the like, will help the beloved reader to begin to understand, to see, and to experience GOD as the LOVE HE IS.
